ESCR Workshop: Field VisitA second workshop on “Bridging Trade, Investment, Finance and Human Rights" was held in Selangor, Malaysia. The workshop which took place in July 2009, focuses specifically on the agricultural sector, addressing trade, investment and finance policies in a holistic way to provide the basis for an integrated paradigm to assess the human rights obligations of governments and financial, investment and trade bodies.

The Federation of Malaysian Consumers Associations, FOMCA and the Southeast Asian Council for Food Security and Fair Trade (SEACON) are pleased to jointly organize a half day Public Forum on "Genetic Engineering of Rice and Other Crops" on 5th October 2009.

 

Rice is the life of Asia. One of the calls of the PeopleÂ’s Year of Rice Action 2009-2010 is protection of AsiaÂ’s rice heritage. YORA thus addresses the issue of GE rice and other crops in Asia and its impacts on small rice farmers and rice consumers.

AFA attends 6th AsiaDHRRA General Assembly


AFA Chairperson Seo Jung Eui led a nine-member AFA delegation who attended the 6th AsiaDHRRA General Assembly (GA) held in Taiping, Malaysia last June 20-23, 2006.
Aside from AFA Chairperson, Mr.Kim, Gi Cheol and Mr. Kwang Cheon Kim of KAFF, Mr. Chaiwat Suravichai and Mr. Pa Phomkham of SorKorPor, Mr. Severino Umandal of PAKISAMA, Mr. Chin-hsiung Hsieh of TWADA, and Mr. Sambito and Mr Nuruddinf of API joined their partner DHRRA NGOs and other regional partners in the event.

Passion, commitment, motivation are some of the essential ingredient of being committed to a job. Doing a job without intrinsic or even extrinsic motivation will not produce desired results. Moreover, as a member of any organization, it is almost impossible to work on our own. We need to join hands with our team to achieve the organization’s goal. However, team spirit is not something that will happen overnight or on its own. It has to be brewed and nurtured. In order to energize and vitalize the ERA Community Centre’s team further, a training session was held in Taiping. The three day event started on 23rd February 2007.
