PETALING JAYA: For the past eight years, a Malaysian-born woman has been living in limbo after losing her citizenship when her name appeared in a voter registration list in India.In 2002, Mageswari Koothan received a notice from the National Registration Depart-ment telling her that she was no longer a Malaysian after it found she was registered as a voter in India. |

Parents should guide children to prevent child mothers

GEORGE TOWN: Parents should realise the importance of sex education and give their children guidance to avoid unwanted pregnancies, said MCA vice-president Datuk Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen.“Youths and teenagers are confused and cannot differentiate between love and physical lust. Most of the time, they are misinformed as they can easily source for information online.“With the right education, children will become responsible. We must not presume that all the teenagers are aware of their actions,” she told reporters during the 2010 Convocation ceremony for the Penang UTAR branch campus here.

 DHRRA Malaysia conducted a skills training program in Negeri Sembilan. In this session, the participants were taught to weave pillow case using ribbon. This program was conducted in collaboration with Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development. |

 Ibu Pejabat Projek Pusat Komuniti DHRRA-ERA, Petaling Jaya telah menerima penghormatan apabila dikunjungi oleh delegasi dari Zimbabwe, yang diketuai oleh Timbalan Perdana Menterinya, Thakozani Khupe pada 22 Februari 2010 yang lalu. Delegasi tersebut turut disertai oleh beberapa tokoh, termasuk Pengarah Eksekutif Institut Demokratik Africa (ADI), Tashinga Mtindike dan pegawai-pegawai dari Kedutaan Zimbabwe. |

 A skill training session was held recently in Sepang. In this session, the participants were taught to weave rattan basket. The participants who were interested were urged to take part in DHRRA Malaysia's Business Training which will help them to venture into small scale businesses. |

 An awareness talk on Malaysian Family Law was conducted in Perak by DHRRA Malaysia. Through this talk the participants were exposed to the legal procedure related to Marriage, Divorce, Birth Registration and Adoption. There were encouraged to seek legal advice, which also offered for free at DHRRA Malaysia Community Centres, if they are facing any legal issues. |

A session on stress and conflict management was held at Persatuan Kebajikan Wanita India Puchong, Selangor on 29 May 2010.
A session on stress and conflict management was held at SMK Seri Puteri Ipoh, Perak. This session was especially for SPM students who will be sitting for SPM examinations later this year.
The Community Centre organized a capacity building program for women in collaboration with Ministry of Women,Family and Community Development in Sitiawan. Around 70 women participated in this program. 
A skill training session for women was conducted by ERA Community Centre in collaboration with Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development. The one day program was held at Kompleks Penyayang Masyarakat Hall , Penang. The program received an overwhelming response as participants travelled from all over Kedah, Penang and Perak to join the session. 
A program for the community of Taman Medan was held at Arulmiga Thurgai Amman Temple, Taman Medan. In this session, the community members were able to come forward to seek guidance on various issues faced by them such as the need for welfare assistance, legal documents, legal advice and psychological counselling.
