It evolved from what was formerly known as MasDHRRA (1974-1998) and later, DHRRA Network Malaysia (1999 – 2005) that worked towards organizing a strong rural and self-reliant community through poverty alleviation and people’s empowerment initiatives. |

A paralegal training session for community leaders was held in Pontian. In this session, the participants were exposed to the Malaysian Legal System. The areas which were covered were Family Law, Consumer Law, Criminal Law and Employment Law. The community leaders were given opportunity to understand the law. They were also given chances to share their experience. |

 ERA Consumer Malaysia (ERA) and DHRRA Malaysia carried out 2 paralegal workshops for MIC Wanita leaders in Port Dickson and Penang.  About eighty-five [(45 participants in Port Dickson and 40 participants from Penang)] individuals from a cross section of the community attended this workshop. The participants ranged in experience from the head of National Women’s wing to state and division women leaders. The first workshop was in Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan held from the 6th – 8th October 2006 at Hotel Sri Malaysia. In that workshop participants were mainly from the southern region i.e. Johor, Pahang, Melaka, Selangor and Kuala Lumpur. The second workshop was held at Tanjung Bungah Hotel in Penang from the 3rd – 5th November 2006 where participants were from the northern region i.e. Perak, Kedah, Penang, Perlis and even participants from Kelantan and Terengganu.

ERA Community Centre was invited to provide training sessions for community leaders and other NGOs. These sessions were held to prepare the leaders and NGOs in their quest to uplift the underprivileged from their current low socioeconomic status as a community and as individuals.
