Nila is now 22 years old. Her aim in life is to be educated and to build a career for herself. She is highly motivated due to the life event which she experienced during her teenage years.
Nila grew up in a small town in the State of Johor. She was the youngest one in her family – the apple of the eye. When she was 5 years old, her father died in an accident which left her mother as the sole breadwinner.

As the family became stable with the income generate by the mother who worked as an operator, unexpectedly, her mum died of pneumonia. Nila was then only 17 years old. This was followed by the death of one of the brother. Due to lack of unity between the siblings… all were separated and Nila was left at with a neighbour where she completed her Form 5.

Unable to focus on her SPM, she only managed to obtain 2 credits. However, she secured an opportunity for vocational study with Jabatan Tenaga Manusia. After completing the course for 1 year and 3 months, she came back to the neighbour’s house. Wanting further develop herself, Nila attempted to enrol for diploma studies, but there were no one to finance her as none of the siblings were willing to take on the responsibility to sponsor her.

While staying at the neighbour’s resident, she faced lots of problems including physical and verbal abuse. Her siblings who were all married by the time were once again unwilling to take on the responsibility to care for her welfare.

Unable to bear the situation any longer, Nila left the house. She later sought shelter from a family friend. Concerned for her well being, the family friend, Mala, contacted DHRRA Malaysia to seek assistance.

At DHRRA Malaysia, Nila was given opportunity to learn office skills. She used the opportunity to learn various skills: filling, computer and interpersonal communication skills among many others. She was provided training for one year and currently holds a decent job. She is also planning to continue her education to further uplift herself and achieve success as her mother wished.
