KUANTAN: The National Registration Department (NRD) has roped in Rela members to help locate those who have yet to collect their MyKad at its office here.
Using the addresses in the identity cards as reference, the team of three Rela members managed to locate all 11.

Unfortunately, only two MyKad could be handed over as the others were either not at home or had moved out.

District Rela deputy officer Major (R) Mohd Arbi Hashim said they could not pass the MyKad to the owners' spouse or relatives as it was compulsory to get the owners' thumb-prints and signature.

"The applicants must confirm that they have received the identity card themselves," he said after presenting a MyKad to its owner in Taman Tas here yesterday.

He said many applicants did not collect their MyKad after applying for them.

"I hope they can inform the NRD so that the department would know where they are staying," he said.

Abidin Rahim, 57, of Taman Tas, said he did not collect his new MyKad after he found his missing identity card last year.

He said he was shocked when Rela members came to his house to hand over the new MyKad yesterday.
