JOHOR BARU: A 4-year-old boy left alone in an apartment fell to his death yesterday.
Sanjef Ahteprakash was believed to have fallen from the balcony of his uncle's unit on the eighth floor of the Larkin Idaman apartment here.

Sanjef was left alone at home when his 26-year-old uncle took his mother to a bus terminal where she had to take a bus to work in Singapore about 8am yesterday.

They had locked the front door grille but did not lock the sliding door at the balcony.

Sanjef was believed to have been playing at the balcony before climbing it and falling to his death.

It is learnt his father passed away about four years ago.
The boy and his mother arrived from Penang three days ago and had stayed at his uncle's apartment since.

His mother had just secured a job in Singapore and yesterday was her first day at work.

As the man returned from the bus terminal, he saw the sliding door opened and upon looking down, he saw his nephew lying motionless on the ground.

Johor Baru (south) police chief Assistant Commissioner Zainuddin Yaacob said the case was classified as sudden death.

He also said the boy's mother and uncle would be investigated under Section 33 of the Child Act for negligence.
