MIRI: Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Tun Hussein will travel to the remote settlement in the Ulu Baram district in northern Sarawak this week to personally meet the Penan people who have been living without citizenship since the Independence.
A program was organized in Bukit Rotan in order to provide advice on issues pertaining legal documents. Many people came forward to seek guidance on issues related to citizenship, late birth registration and late identification card application.

Raasi is a family man who has a loving wife and devoted children. He works hard to provide a comfortable, if not luxuries, life for his family. Yet, for more than 10 years Rassi has been in a continues struggle for his two children, Moorthy and Guru, who were unable to obtain the identity of a Malaysian.

A skill training session was held recently in Sepang. In this session, the participants were taught to weave rattan basket. The participants who were interested were urged to take part in DHRRA Malaysia's Business Training which will help them to venture into small scale businesses.

PUTRAJAYA: The Home Ministry has completed the mammoth task of clearing the backlog of over 140,000 applications for citizenship, entry permits and birth certificates — two months ahead of schedule.
It has processed 143,099 files — 32,927 citizenship, 16,812 entry permit (permanent residence) and 93,360 birth certificate applications — filed between 1997 and December 2006.
KUALA LUMPUR: After more than 30 years of being “stateless”, two siblings finally succeeded in getting their Malaysian citizenship.
High Court (Appellate and Special Powers) judge Justice Lau Bee Lan declared that R. Thirupathi, 34, and his sister Meena, 31, are lawful citizens of Malaysia under Section 14(1)(b) of the Federal Constitution.
