KLUANG: The Home Ministry is set to send out 262,985 uncollected MyKad within two months – even if its officers have to knock on the doors of card owners.
“My ministry officers have even delivered the cards personally to the homes of card holders. We have also advertised their names in the papers,” said minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein.

 2010/02/02 By Evangeline Majawat KUALA LUMPUR: The government is looking at limiting National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) loans to only cover the tuition fees.This is one of the possible solutions contained in a study carried out by the Higher Education Ministry to rein in PTPTN’s growing budget. Its minister, Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, said his ministry was weighing the amount and criteria for PTPTN loan applicants. |

IPOH: The Home Ministry has simplified the Bahasa Malay-sia interview for citizenship applications to make it easier on the elderly.
"This will give the elderly and less educated applicants a chance to get their citizenship approved," Datuk Lau Yeng Peng, special officer to Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, said yesterday.

Citizenship denied with reason

IPOH: The Home Ministry has denied allegations that it rejects applications for citizenship without stating reasons.
Datuk Lau Yeng Peng, who is the special officer to Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein, said: “On the contrary, the ministry does state the reasons for rejecting the application by informing the applicants which requirement under the Constitution, in particular, has not been met.”

Shahrizat: Don’t rely on handouts
THE Women, Family and Community Development Ministry will focus on productive welfare to achieve its target of eradicating hardcore poverty by the end of the year.
According to its minister, Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, this means that Malaysians must stop being complacent and not expect handouts from the Government.

A second workshop on “Bridging Trade, Investment, Finance and Human Rights" was held in Selangor, Malaysia. The workshop which took place in July 2009, focuses specifically on the agricultural sector, addressing trade, investment and finance policies in a holistic way to provide the basis for an integrated paradigm to assess the human rights obligations of governments and financial, investment and trade bodies. 
The DHRRA-ERA Community Centre was honoured to welcome delegation from Zimbabwe, headed by the Deputy Prime Minister of Zimbabwe, Honourable Thokozani Khupe to the Headquaters of the Community Centre Project, located in Petaling Jaya on 22nd of February, 2010. The delegation which comprises prominent individuals includes the Executive Director of ADI, Tashinga Mtindike and Embassy personnels. 
A program for the community of Taman Medan was held at Arulmiga Thurgai Amman Temple, Taman Medan. In this session, the community members were able to come forward to seek guidance on various issues faced by them such as the need for welfare assistance, legal documents, legal advice and psychological counselling.
