In conjunction with Professional Day, DHRRA Malaysia was invited to conduct a training program for selected primary school teachers in the state of Perak. This training program focused on the effective teacher – student communication skills.
Weekly tutorials are held at Dengkil Community Centre to help the students master English Language. In this session, the students were involved in a discussion about their hobbies. The students were giving opportunity to ask question to their friends in order to know more about their hobbies. The students also had a fun time singing a new song.
Women are more likely to become depressed than men. Depression is a 'whole body' illness involving your body, mood and thoughts. It affects the way one eat and sleep, the way one feels about themselves,and the way one thinks. People with depression cannot merely 'pull themselves together and feel better. Without proper intervention, symptoms can lasts for weeks to years and lead to ill health. Appropriate treatment, however, can help most people who have depression.
For some students, once SPM results are out – everything is just a breeze for them. Some have thought well in advance of the kind of pathway they would like to pursue and have necessary preparation. However sadly, it’s poignant to say that the majority of students are standing at the diverged road - uncertain of their next step. There are many reasons for this scenario: apathy, lack of exposure, lack of motivation and values held that’s does not give importance to education. These students are hard hit by reality once the SPM results is in their hand.
Motivation is one of the most important key to success. It is through motivation that one takes action to reach the pre-determined goals. In the past, students’ motivation has been much more intrinsic. The desire to succeed was embedded deep in the students’ heart. Motivational programs, talks and camps were rarely heard of. Parents did not spend a fortune to send their children for these programs. The students’ source of motivation came from the inspirational people around them, the desire to climb the ladder of socioeconomic status and etc.
Individuals from all layers of the society relate to the word “stress”: from students, laborers, homemakers, professionals, you and me. It could be exam stress, work related stress, financial stress…etc. No matter who we are and what we do, stress is something normal and unavoidable in our lives. What is stress actually? Can it be avoided? What are the ways to handle stress? In order to create these awareness among Sentul community, a talk on stress management strategies was organized by ERA community center on 17th December 2006. This article explores the nature of stress and the management methods that were put forward to 85 members of the Sentul community by Ms. Nanthini Ramalo, Director for Women’s Program for Community Development.

Mr Seenivasan and Mr Veerammal were born in a General Hospital in Kedah. They obtained their birth certificate without any difficulties.
At the age of 11 and 10 respectively, they were taken to Sabah by their parents. Reaching the age of 12, they applied for Identification Card which they received - only to be taken back later by the National Registration Department.
Citizenship refers to the relationship between an individual and state to which the individual owes allegiance and the state in return owes protection to its subjects. It refers to the civil, political and social rights that the state guarantees to individuals in a territory over which it has control.
Law is a code or set of rules that regulates the behaviors of the members of societies. It affects, directly or indirectly, almost everything that we do; buying a house, marriage, divorce, replacing a defective electrical good, murder, and etc. It is important to become aware of the various laws; how it works and how it can protect us.
Women are capable of many things. However, they still suffer from low socioeconomic freedom. Nevertheless, they need the right exposure and encouragement to discover their potential. By providing opportunity and space for development, these ladies will thrive and bring positive changes not only to their families but also to the community.
