Thought For The Day

“Men often become what
they believe themselves to be.
If I believe
I cannot do something,
it makes me incapable
of doing it.
But when I believe I can,
then I acquire the ability
to do it even if
I didn't have it in the beginning.”

by Mahatma Gandhi

Written by Administrator
Friday, 03 February 2012 17:43
RAWANG, Feb 2 (Bernama) -- Forty-two people received their identification documents, namely Mykad, Citizenship and birth certificate today.

Among them were a 49-year-old barber M. Soundrarajan from Rasah, Negeri Sembilan and Hartini Abd Rani, 33 from Hulu Bernam.

During the event organised by The Development of Human Resources in Rural Area (DHRRA Malaysia), its President and Hulu Selangor Member of Parliament P. Kamalanathan handed over the documents to the recipients.

"Without a Mykad, I could not find a better job and not able to carry out any official task, including applying for bank loan," Soundarajan told Bernama here today after receiving his MyKad from Kamalanathan in Bukit Beruntung, Rawang here Thursday.

Hartini meanwhile, said she had lost her MyKad in 2007 and had to go through a torrid time, including failing to register the birth of her second child Sri Nurazrin Zaaba, who is now four years old.

"After losing the MyKad, I could not afford to pay the RM300 fine and as a result could not register the birth of my second child," she said.

Meanwhile, Kamalanathan advised those with important documents like MyKad, birth certificate and citizenship to safeguard their belongings since losing them would result in difficulties.

He said DHRRA Malaysia had been assisting poor Malaysians to apply for such documents and since February last year, the organisation had helped 135 people to receive their identification documents.

"People should safeguard their personal identification documents. They must also not misuse such documents," he said.

Science comes from Latin word scientia, which means knowledge. It is a systematic enterprise that builds and organizes knowledge in the form of testable explanations and predictions about the universe.Younger generation today has better creativity and innovation to be implemented in the future. With this concept firmly in mind, the Malaysian Indian Science Intellectuals(MISI), and Development of Human Resources in Rural Areas(DHRRA) Malaysia, has initiated the THUMBI(Dragon- fly) Science Magazine for Kids.

THUMBI(Science Magazine) is a magazine that emphasises today’s updates on creation and innovation related to science field.Currently,Thumbi is being focused on 523 Tamil primary schools. We believe that this magazine will encourage hidden potential of our Indian students.Thumbi stands firmly with its objective in introducing and instil depth of science among students in a very interesting way. As being planned,THUMBI will be produced in bilingual(English and Tamil) four times a year, and have an initial print target of 80,000 copies per year,to be increased to 120,000 copies per year over the next four years.
Contents of THUMBI are being assembled by an experienced team in science field. THUMBI is thematic andemphasises ‘hands-on’ science. Students are encouraged to carry out simple science projects. The scientific content will presented in simple English, Tamil, and, occasionally, Malay—with lots of illustration to aid comprehension and to bring the content to live. The magazine will feature articles on chosen theme, interviews with scientists and fellow students, hands-on experiments, comics of well-known scientists and their discoveries, models, games, quizzes, student section, and articles on health and body, psychology, Information Technology, environment, and latest discoveries. We hope by the implementation and continuity of THUMBI magazine in these 523 Tamil Primary schools students will benefitmore.
