DHRRA Malaysia is a voluntary non-profit and non-political organization registered in 2006 under the Societies Act of Malaysia 1966. It evolved from what was formerly known as MasDHRRA (1974-1998) and later, DHRRA Network Malaysia (1999 – 2005) that worked towards organizing a strong rural and self-reliant community through poverty alleviation and people’s empowerment initiatives.
With the collaboration of Kelab Bell Belia Tamil Taiping (KBBT), DHRRA Malaysia organized a program for youths in Taiping. The program addressed some of the social issues engulfing teenagers at this point of time.
WORKERS involved in accidents at work are covered by the Social Security Organisation (Socso) even if their employers have not submitted their contributions to the organisation.Deputy Human Resources Minister Datuk Maznah Mazlan said Socso would cover the workers' medical claims, but the employers would be fined for failing to submit their contributions.

KUALA LUMPUR: Education programmes for stateless children may be coordinated by the Education Ministry.
Currently, the various education opportunities for these children are being offered by the non-governmental organisations, the private sector and individuals.
Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who is also the education minister, welcomed these initiatives but said the implementation of the education programmes would have to be monitored carefully.
PARENTS who register the birth of their children late should provide "strong evidence" that the births really took place in Malaysia, the Dewan Negara was told yesterday.
Deputy Home Minister Datuk Lee Chee Leong said as responsible parents, they must furnish the National Registration Department (NRD) with supporting documents to support their late applications and registrations.

KUALA LUMPUR: Children without valid personal identification papers can still have access to education in Malaysia, Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said.
PETALING JAYA: For the past eight years, a Malaysian-born woman has been living in limbo after losing her citizenship when her name appeared in a voter registration list in India.In 2002, Mageswari Koothan received a notice from the National Registration Depart-ment telling her that she was no longer a Malaysian after it found she was registered as a voter in India.

IPOH 1 Julai – Raja Muda Perak, Raja Dr. Nazrin Shah bertitah, negara sedang berdepan krisis moral yang membimbangkan apabila perangkaan menunjukkan 257,000 sijil kelahiran yang dikeluarkan dari tahun 2000 hingga Julai 2008 tidak mencatatkan nama bapa.
Titah baginda, berdasarkan perangkaan Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara (JPN) itu, ini bermakna 2,500 anak luar nikah direkodkan setiap bulan atau purata 84 kes setiap hari.
Tambahnya, perangkaan dari 1999 hingga 2003 mencatatkan 70,430 anak luar nikah didaftarkan iaitu 30,978 beragama Islam, Hindu (18,085), Buddha (17,236) dan Kristian (3,395).
PUTRAJAYA: The public can soon apply for passports at selected National Registration Department (NRD) branches, where one normally applies for a MyKad . For a start, the soon-to-be-launched service will be available at the Puchong, Kepong and Gombak NRD offices.Deputy Home Minister Datuk Lee Chee Leong said the ministry wants to make it easier for the public to apply for passports by introducing Joint-Use Counters at NRD offices under a pilot project. The public no longer need to go to the Immigration Department.
KUALA LUMPUR: In a move to make higher education more accessible, the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) will offer full loans, covering tuition fees and subsistence, to students from families with a net income of less than RM4,000 a month.Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said the new ruling would take effect on July 1.

GEORGE TOWN: Parents should realise the importance of sex education and give their children guidance to avoid unwanted pregnancies, said MCA vice-president Datuk Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen.“Youths and teenagers are confused and cannot differentiate between love and physical lust. Most of the time, they are misinformed as they can easily source for information online.“With the right education, children will become responsible. We must not presume that all the teenagers are aware of their actions,” she told reporters during the 2010 Convocation ceremony for the Penang UTAR branch campus here.
